Getting Around Temecula

If you prefer to travel to Temecula by bus, The Riverside Transit Authority (RTA) offers several options. Local bus routes #23, #24, and #79 service Temecula. The RTA also operates the Commuter Link express bus lines, which feature several enhancements over the local bus lines including more comfortable seats which may be cushioned or recline, laptop connectivity and movies on several of the buses. Temecula can be reached via the Commuter Link routes #202, #206 and #208. If you are traveling from outside of the Riverside County area, Temecula is accessible via Greyhound Bus, which operates buses in all of the lower 48 states.

If traveling by train is your preference, Southern California's Metrolink system has a stop in Riverside. You will then need to transfer to the #206 bus into Temecula. If you are traveling from another state via Amtrak, there are several stations located within a 30 mile radius of Temecula; however, you will need to transfer to a bus or to rent a car in order to reach the city itself.

The domestic airport that is located closest to Temecula is McClellan-Palomar Airport, and the closest international airport is LA/Ontario International Airport. For travelers arriving from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), there is a shuttle van available with service to Temecula, but this option can be more costly than the other alternatives.

For the greatest freedom, travelers may want to consider renting a car. Most major car rental companies operate locations near Southern California's airports. Be sure to call or to perform an Internet search to learn about the best rates and any available promotions. Having a car will free you from having to worry about public transportation fares and schedules. Temecula, and Southern California in general, have many scenic and historic driving routes to explore.

Once you arrive in Temecula, other modes of transportation include local taxi service, carpooling with others, and a free historic trolley that makes several stops around Temecula including The Promenade Mall, Harveston, and the business district along County Center Drive, schools such as Chaparral High School and Ysabel Barnett Elementary School.

In the future, The California High Speed Rail Authority plans to construct a new, state of the art train service which will make reaching Temecula from other major cities in California faster and easier than ever.
